Tony Bates joined the Wise Police Department in June of 1980 and was promoted to Chief of Police in 1988. He is a 1990 graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Va. and a 2000 graduate of the Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond. Chief Bates is involved in many aspects of community policing including drug and alcohol awareness in Southwest Virginia and is also a member of the High Risk Entry Team. | |

Lieutenant Dotson joined the Wise Police Department on December 18,1979. He oversees the operations of the uniform patrol personnel. Jeff and his wife Kathy have two children, Jeremy and Kevin. | |

Sgt. Danny French joined the Wise Police Department on April 9,1987. He is presently assigned to the D.A.R.E. Program as well as a patrol supervisor He enjoys spending time with his three children. Sgt. French is also a member of the High Risk Entry Team and a Firearms Instructor. | |

Chris Kent joined the Wise Police Department in December of 1996 and is a patrol supervisor. He is a former Wise Police Explorer. Sergeant Kent became a police officer because he has always wanted to help and assist the public. | |

Mickel Mullins joined the Wise Police Department in July 1998. He is a member of the Wise Fire Department and a former member of Explorer Post 312 and is now a Post Advisor. He is also a member of the High Risk Entry Team. Mickel is also a DARE instructor at Addington Middle School and Wise Primary School. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children. | |

Chris Sproles joined the Wise Police Department on July 22, 1999. He is assigned to the patrol division and a member of the High Risk Entry Team. Chris enjoys spending time with his wife Diane and their son, Timothy. | |

Officer Lawson joined the Wise Police Department in August 2004 and is currently assigned to the patrol division. He was a member of the WPD Explorer Post for 3 years. Aaron has an Associate's Degree in Police Science from Mountain Empire Community College and eventually wants to start a family. He likes lifting weights and playing video games in his spare time. | |
